Dubai Packing List — What to Pack for Every Season
Dubai has two practical seasons: a mild pleasant winter (November through March, 75–86°F) ideal for outdoor exploration, and an extreme summer (June through September, 105–109°F) when the city retreats entirely indoors. Year-round, the aggressive 65–68°F air conditioning in malls and hotels creates a 40–45°F indoor-outdoor gap that requires a layering strategy regardless of season.
By Season
59–78°F
Winter (December–February)
Dubai's finest season — 75–78°F days and 59–63°F evenings. All outdoor attractions (Burj Khalifa plaza, Dubai Creek, JBR beach, desert safaris) are comfortable all day. Peak tourist season with highest prices and crowds.
- Lightweight breathable tops
- Light jacket for 59–63°F evenings
- Modest coverage layer for souks
- Sunscreen SPF 30
67–102°F
Spring (March–May)
Warming from 84°F in March to 102°F in May. March and April remain comfortable for outdoor activity with proper sun protection. May signals the start of serious heat — outdoor activity shifts to early morning and late evening only.

- Cardigan for mall air conditioning
- Sunscreen SPF 50+
- Wide-brim hat
86–109°F
Summer (June–September)
Extreme heat 105–109°F with Gulf humidity. Outdoor activity is dangerous from 9 AM to 8 PM. The city moves entirely indoors to malls, museums, hotel spas, and Ski Dubai. Significant hotel price discounts available.
- Minimum outdoor clothing
- Multiple cardigans for air conditioning
- SPF 50+ sunscreen
- 2L insulated water bottle
70–96°F
Autumn (October–November)
October marks the transition out of summer — 96°F dropping to 86°F in November. Outdoor activities gradually return through the month. Late November is near-perfect. Hotel prices rise as the winter peak approaches.

General Packing Tips for Dubai
- 1.Dubai's most consistent packing mistake is dressing only for the outdoor heat — the city's malls, hotels, restaurants, and taxis maintain 65–68°F air conditioning year-round, creating a 25–45°F gap between outdoor and indoor temperatures; a light cardigan or layer is the single most important item regardless of what month you visit.
- 2.Dubai has a contextual dress code: beach zones (JBR, Jumeirah) and modern hotel and mall areas are relaxed, but the Gold Souk, Spice Souk, and Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood require covered shoulders and knees; a lightweight linen long-sleeve shirt and wide-leg trousers handle the transition between zones without changing outfits.
- 3.Dubai's peak tourist season (December through February) has the best weather but highest prices and crowds — the best-value timing is November (86°F, pre-peak prices) or late March (84°F, post-peak prices); both offer outdoor-friendly temperatures without the December crush.
