Las Vegas Packing List — What to Pack for Every Season

Las Vegas weather ranges from 38°F winter nights to 105°F summer days. Pack a packable layer for casino air conditioning year-round, SPF 50+ for intense desert UV, and comfortable walking shoes — the Strip is over 4 miles of hard concrete.

By Season

38–63°F

Winter (December–February)

Las Vegas winters are mild by day but genuinely cold at night — January and December lows drop to 38°F on the Strip. Casino air conditioning runs year-round, and evening outdoor time requires a proper coat.

  • Insulated jacket or wool coat
  • Layering sweaters and long-sleeve tops
  • Jeans or tailored trousers
  • Comfortable closed-toe walking shoes

49–88°F

Spring (March–May)

Spring transitions from mild 69°F March highs to hot 88°F May afternoons. Layering is essential early in the season; by May the focus shifts to sun protection and breathable fabrics.

  • Lightweight midi dress or linen trousers
  • Packable cardigan for casino AC
  • Breathable cotton or linen tops
  • Comfortable flat sandals or walking sneakers

76–105°F

Summer (June–August)

Las Vegas summer is extreme — July averages 105°F with Strip pavement surface temperatures exceeding 150°F. Lightweight fabrics, UPF sun protection, and a packable layer for casino air conditioning are non-negotiable.

  • UPF-rated lightweight sundresses
  • Wide-brim sun hat
  • Packable cardigan or light jacket for casino AC
  • Closed-toe breathable walking shoes or supportive sandals

46–95°F

Fall (September–November)

Fall is Las Vegas's most comfortable season for outdoor time, though September still reaches 95°F. November nights drop to 46°F, making layering essential for late-evening Strip walks and Formula 1 outdoor events.

  • Transitional light jacket
  • Versatile layering tops
  • Comfortable jeans or trousers
  • Walking shoes with cushioned soles for Strip and convention distances
