Local tips for Cape Town in June

June storms can be spectacular from safe vantage points like the Sea Point promenade or Bloubergstrand — but avoid mountain hiking in high wind; the cable car often closes.

Many wine estates have cozy tasting rooms with fireplaces; June is excellent for unhurried visits and hearty pairings in the sheltered valleys of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.

The cold Benguela current makes the Atlantic even less inviting in winter; if you want to swim, look to heated hotel pools or the warmer False Bay side.
