General Packing Tips for Cape Town
- 1.Cape Town's year-round southeasterly 'Cape Doctor' winds make a windproof layer essential even on warm days — gusts at Table Mountain and Camps Bay can turn a pleasant hike or beach visit chilly fast.
- 2.The Benguela current keeps Atlantic water cold year-round (even when air is 75°F); pack a rash guard or quick-dry layers if you plan any swimming or boat trips from the V&A Waterfront or Hout Bay.
- 3.Elevation changes on Table Mountain and the Twelve Apostles mean temperatures can drop 10–15°F at the summit compared to the city bowl — always carry an extra layer regardless of the forecast at sea level.
